Neurodiversity

Dear Maynard School Community,

Neurodiversity Celebration Week (NCW) 2025 will take place from Monday, March 17, to Sunday, March 23. I encourage everyone to participate in raising awareness and celebrating this important global initiative that aims to challenge stereotypes and misconceptions about neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities. This week serves as an opportunity for schools, universities, and organizations to recognize the unique talents and strengths of neurodivergent individuals. Additionally, it seeks to promote more inclusive and equitable environments that honor differences and empower every individual.

Siena Castellon, founder of NCW, states, “I founded Neurodiversity Celebration Week in 2018 because I wanted to change the way learning differences are perceived. As a teenager who is autistic and has ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia, my experience has shown me that people often focus on the challenges of neurological diversity. I wanted to change the narrative and create a balanced view that highlights our talents and strengths equally.”

The Neurodiversity Celebration Week website is full of information and resources for all stakeholders. Feel free to explore this website. Much of the information is quite inspirational. https://www.neurodiversityweek.com/
