Come have some fun at the SEPAC Winter Social! On Tuesday, December 4 from 6:30 – 8 pm at the Green Meadow cafeteria, the Maynard SEPAC will host our annual SEPAC Winter Social! All families of children receiving special education services from the Maynard Schools are invited (siblings are welcome too!). Come join this annual tradition where the kids can enjoy cookie decorating, crafts, and music—and each child receives a goodie bag as well. Workshop on Basic Rights in Special Education: A representative from the Federation for Children with Special Needs will present a Basic Rights in Special Education workshop on Monday, December 10, from 7-9 p.m. in the RJ Grey Junior High library, 16 Charter Road, Acton. Families will get an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Massachusetts special education law. The workshop is designed to help parents/guardians learn to be effective partners with their child's school to determine their child's eligibility for special education and to plan, make decisions, and monitor their child's progress. This free, public event is hosted by the Acton-Boxborough, Concord/Concord-Carlisle, Maynard, and Sudbury Special Education Parent Advisory Councils with support from their school districts.
