To help motivate Green Meadow students to work on being 'Kind, Safe Learners' in the cafeteria, the "Golden Spatula Award' will begin the week of January 14th. The idea was inspired by this article: PBIS Cafeteria Expectations
Students in grades K-3 are attending grade level meetings this week to learn about the incentive program. They will be encourage to practice targeted skills- such as walking safely, using kind manners, and talking in expected volume levels ('2 for table talk' and 'whisper while you walk'). The class in each gradelevel that does the best job will earn a certificate and 'Golden Spatula' to proudly display on their door for a week. Charts displayed on the stage will indicate progress mastering the skills. Based on the data, struggling classes will be given additional lessons and support. Please ask your children for updates on the program.
The cafeteria tables will also be moved to improve supervision and movement. "Turning the Tables' also provides an opportunity to spark everyone's interest in establishing some new norms for the cafeteria. Thank you to the Excel staff and custodians for their flexibility and support in adapting the new design!
