SUPERINTENDENT’S NEWSLETTER
January 2020
Welcome Back! It’s hard to imagine that the year is nearly half over. How time flies!
As we approach the half-way mark of the school year, I want to provide all members of our community, the mission of the Maynard School District and assure you that I am committed to guiding the district on a path that ensures its continued success.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION
The beginning of a new calendar year always signals to us that it is time to start the process of planning for the next school year. Each January we begin the registration process for both preschool and kindergarten. Children are eligible to attend in preschool when they are three years old. Children who will be 5 years old as of September 1, 2020 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year.
This year’s kindergarten registration will take place on:
⦁ Wednesday, January 15 from 9-12
⦁ Wednesday January 15 from 5-7 PM
⦁ Thursday, January 16 from 9-12
Registration will take place at Green Meadow Elementary School.
Registration materials are available on line or in the school office at any time. In addition to the registration materials, you will need to provide a birth certificate and proof of residence. We are happy to make copies of any materials for you at the time of registration. A kindergarten orientation will be held in the spring. During this time, parents the teaching staff will provide parents with information about the engaging curriculum and enriching kindergarten experience.
Preschool Information Night

FROM THE DESK OF THE SCHOOL NURSE:
It’s Flu Season
Preventative measures are the BEST way to keep as healthy as possible. To curb the spread of disease which includes, cold and flu
Remember to:
Be diligent about handwashing
Reminders:
Sanitizing common surfaces and supplies
Implementing "elbows" instead of the ever so germ passing "high-five,"
Wash hands by washing with soap and water or use hand sanitizer.
Cover Your Mouth and Nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
Don't Touch Your Face with unwashed hands; it's the easiest way for germs to enter your body.
Please be sure to visit the signs with proper hand washing instructions in all student bathrooms. They are a good visual to use as a reference for your students.
Don't forget to get your flu shot!

I would like to thank the Green Meadow Future Committee and the central office staff, specifically, Jennifer Gaudet and Michelle Resendes. As a result of all of their hard work and collaboration, The Town of Maynard has been approved by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to begin exploration of building a new elementary school. We are currently working with the MSBA and the town officials in creating a timeline for the project, which will include the fiscal responsibilities.
